Working Title: The Life of Anne Frank

Genre:

Drama Non-Fiction Documentary
Producers: MAD Productions
Situation: Students have researched a historical figure and are now creating a documentary on that person.
Length: 90-120 seconds

The intended audience for our iMovie about the life of Anne Frank is students who are in sixth grade or above, their teachers, and anyone else interested in learning more about Anne Frank and the Holocaust. The purpose of this iMovie is for students to display what they have learned about the historical figure that they researched.

The Life of Anne Frank incorporates quotes from Anne Frank's diary, pictures, maps, and video clips of the Holocaust and concentration camps. There will be instrumental music accompanying most of the iMovie and sound effects of people, traffic, and other things as they fit in.

The Life of Anne Frank opens with the Fair Use statement that fades into a picture of Anne Frank. The picture is accompanied by a quote from her diary about her views of the war, persecution, and being in hiding. This will cross dissolve into the opening credits on black background.

Scene Sequence 1 starts with the narrator giving basic facts about Anne Frank's early days with pictures of her childhood, family, home, etc. where relevant. This will cut into the next scene.

Scene Sequence 2 has narrator giving background information about Hitler coming to power and World War II. There will be a short video clip of Hitler and/or the Nazi invasion. Facts about the discrimination of Jews in general will be given. Pictures will visually aid the information being given. This will cross dissolve into the next sequence.

Scene Sequence 3 has the narrator providing information about Anne Frank's life in hiding. Written excerpts from her diary will be narrated by a female voice as though Anne is talking. Pictures of the diary entries will be shown along with other pictures of Anne Frank.

Scene Sequence 4 describes the people who cohabitated with Anne Frank. This portion of the iMovie will again sound as if Anne is the one speaking. Information about the people who helped the Franks will be touched on as well.

Scene Sequence 5 features facts and general information about the concentration camps, which will be written across the scene over still pictures and video clips. There will be no background music to emphasize the seriousness of the topic. Information given will include how many were killed in concentration camps, the atmosphere, and the aftermath. This scene will fade into the next scene.

Scene Sequence 6 has narrator speaking about life after the Holocaust for Anne Frank. It will discuss how her father was the only surviving family member and received Anne's diary years later. Information about the diary itself will be given. Pictures of excerpts from the diary will be shown. The narrator will also describe how the popularity of the diary grew and led to the opening of the Anne Frank museum.

The production ends with a fade to black to credits and references, and then black.
